This winch has operated without issues so far. The book that comes with the winch does not fit the winch purchased. It is for a wire rope winch with a standard wired remote. The winch purchased has a dual use remote that can be unplugged from the winch and the remote and still operate the winch. The manual does not cover this.

When unspooled I found there is a attachment lug on the spool. The spool spins freely and smooth when disengaged.
Plastic parts are of good quality. Line speed is surprisingly quick while being able to still pull a load.

So I got tired of getting stuck in the clay mud and needing someone to pull me out, with no cell phone service and miles away from anyone at all, getting dark, blah blah blah, you get the picture. I bought this winch after reading many reviews of many winch's. The wireless remote for this one is amazing. I never did find out how far it will go before it stops working. I was 300 feet away and it was still working. And this 13,000 pound winch picked up the back of my Dodge Ram 1500 that was stuck to the axles front and back in clay mud. Using an oak tree that was 90 feet away, and a rail road tie for a fulcrum. It lifted the back three feet out of the mud easily. Then later it pulled the back of the truck sideways so I could get through a narrow gate. I love this winch and won't ever go off road without it again.

It's a nice unit the only thing the instructions were not clear on the wiring diagram had to Google to get a good idea of where to wires actually go found out on Google they are color coded which helps very much with install

This winch works flawlessly. Easy to operate! It's built extremely heavy duty for anything you need for. I had planned on mounting it in the front of my tandem trailer, however I will need to have a plate cut to be able to mount it as my tongue is too narrow to be able to mount to the trailer frame. For now I have it mounted at the front deck of the trailer and had no problems pulling a ford 8n tractor onto the trailer with it.

Accidentally received a returned winch initially and seller quickly rectified so was very happy with that end of things. The winch on our car trailer was on it's last leg and this winch was a great replacement. Easy to use, easy to install and looks pretty nice on the trailer. Loaded a full sized tractor, back hoe and pickup truck on to the trailer with no issues.

XBull customer service team came through! Great service! After reading my review I was contacted by Xbull to see if there was any way to help and if I could provide them with more details. The team was very curious about the unit I received and wanted to know every detail to make sure it didn't happen again. I was glad they contacted me and was more than willing to help. After several conversations spanning over a few days Xbull decided that they should send me a new winch to replace the faulty one I had received 6 weeks prior. Even Warn didn't bother to help me when their winch broke.
After receiving the replacement winch it took me about an hour after delivery to remove the faulty unit and install the new one. Night and day difference in sound and performance. The battery draw was about 25% less than the faulty unit too. I tested it and confirmed everything under load. Works amazing. I've now used it about a dozen times in the last 2 weeks and it works just as well as the day I received it. The first one was half dead after a handful of uses, and even on the first use wasn't nearly as strong as the replacement unit.
I've been a customer for 5 years now. I will definitely be staying with XBull.
Below is my initial review when I unknowingly received a faulty unit.
Initial review:
Works well enough for a few sticky situations. Then it gets really loud and noticeably weaker. Motor just doesn't last. It's definitely not 13,500 pounds even if you've only got 10 feet of line out. Especially if it's been used to pull your rig out a dozen times. Gets louder and louder from the motor/gears every time you use it.
This is my 4th xbull winch. Every time XBull releases a new winch they seem to fix one problem at a time. So I was hoping this winch wouldn't have issues. It does sadly. The remote is ok so long as you are standing really close and pointing right at the winch. Having a spotter use the wireless remote from more than 10-15 ft away gets hard from the interference.

It's very simple to test before install with a battery.
I got this for my Jeep, the red & black is a nice contrast & I like the way it looks.
I prefer a synthetic rope to a cable because they do less damage if they snap.
I haven't yet gotten the chance to use this.

This 13,500 pound winch is a beast. This is a great winch for the price point. For me, I would never pay up for the name brand winches as well as this one works.
I know a lot of people prefer cable to the synthetic rope provided with this winch. I prefer the rope as it seems to work much easier. It is easier to coil back up, does not tend to try to roll up when spooling out a lot of cable for a recovery.
Good value at the price point. I recommend this product.

Assembles quick, synthetic towline with a robust rubber bumper and hook. I mounted mine to a winch receiver so I can mount it front or rear or move to my other truck. Great looking winch with straight forward controls and having the remote be wireless is great

At around $399, this winch is a frakkin' steal! Its incredibly well made, has tons of power and was easy enough to mount to my truck. Works just as well as my buddy's brand name winch that cost three times more than this one. Its a no brainer!

This thing appears to be very solidly built and of good quality. It's also a sweet looking unit. I am waiting for a mounting kit for my 2020 Ford Ranger that is on back order. Using it for a hidden install and excited to get it mounted. Will update the post once I do.

I'm not gonna say these X-Bull winches are perfect, but they have been serious workhorses on my trucks: easy to work, strong pullers, and they haven't failed me yet.
Note that if you get the synthetic rope you're gonna want to cover it so the sun doesn't degrade it. Also, synthetic lines don't wear that great in my experience but they're WAY better to work with.
You've gotta mount the control box and I'd recommend a quick disconnect on the battery cable so you can pull the winch easily if needed.
Remote is wireless or wired, which is a good way to go. Less to lose

Got this for my husbands truck, there was a little hiccup getting it all installed but after that he was extremely happy with it! He was over the mood about the remote so I'm guess that's a good thing! I highly recommend!

Everything about this winch is heavy duty. Good steel frame, good size wires, and definitely a big enough pull rope. Free spools out really quick and easy. The rope is plenty big enough to not backlash, it will loosen up a little.
Impressed with the wiring harnesses and gauge of the wire. Actually has everything done with the ends and crimped terminals. Has a lengthy remote but it's push buttons are kinda questionable.
For the price, it's hard to find a better deal!

Matched the cabinets in my trailer .. had to make a custom floor mount so the winch would sit high enough not to drag on the cabinet frame but it's a great winch !

I Install was super easy, came with everything you need. It did not include a curcuit breaker and I do not know if there is one inside the solenoid cover. Might be a good idea to buy one.
The remote is amazing. It has a built-in battery that I assume needs to be charged by plugging the remote into the winch. Sounds kind of annoying, I wish it took some AA's or something. But, I have had no issues. It connects immediately and the range is every bit of 120ft. The magnet is super handy too.
I have used the winch 5 times so far, 4 pulls to get my Lexus out of some mud, and another time pulling a Jeep out of some sticky mud. I had the Lexus chained to a truck and the winch was dragging both of us to the Jeep, so I had to chain the Lexus to a tree. So it's a very strong winch! I do not doubt the 13.5k rating at all.
For the price, I highly recommend this winch. I will update the review when the unit has an issue.
